7 Ways To Add Colour To Your Bathroom

7 Ways To Add Colour To Your Bathroom - Classic Pink Bathtub

White is so last decade.  After years of minimalist monochrome dominating interior design, we’re dying to add a splash of colour to every room in the house.  Today, we’re focussing on one of the most highly trafficked rooms, the bathroom!

Of course, colourful bathrooms aren’t a new concept in home design.  Cast your mind back to earlier decades… remember the rose pink, sunshine yellow and mint green bathroom suites that you, your parents or your grandparents had?  Coloured bathroom suites are finally making a comeback!
Homeowners are looking towards block colours and retro styles as they want to scrap the bland and boring white-on-white designs from the last ten to fifteen years.
Here are our top tips for including copious amounts of colour in your bathroom!

Pack a punch with paint:

Paint is an inexpensive and very simple way to inject a dash of colour into your bathroom. If your white suite is relatively new and does not need upgrading, forget giving the whole room a makeover.  Instead, coat your walls in colourful paint.  Select an on-trend shade and then build a colour scheme around it for the rest of the room.
May we suggest:  Dulux Tranquil Dawn – this barely-there green is the colour of the year for 2020.

Top tip:  If you’re feeling adventurous, choose a couple of colours and create a two-tone design in your bathroom for a thoroughly modern look.

Try terrific tiles:

Ornate, decorative tiles in a myriad of colours dominated bathroom design in the 1920s and 1930s.  Look back to this era for some serious design inspiration when refurbishing your home.

Rip out those clinical white wall tiles and replace them with something a little fancier.  We love these hand-printed tiles by Original Style. They’re the ‘Deco Tayberry’ style, which the company has named as Tile of the Year for 2020.

Consider colourful cladding:

We love plastic sheeting!  It’s a cheap, easy and DIY-friendly way to update your bathroom.  You can mount it over tiles for a quick and simple transformation.  Plus, it’s a low maintenance solution that is hygienic, easy-to-clean and moisture resistant!   We love these vivid blue bathroom wall panels from the Plastic Sheets Shop.

Buy a beautiful bath:

Install a coloured bath to create a striking focal point.  There are tonnes of options available to buy, or you could grab a tin of paint and upcycle the underside of a bath you already own!

Top tip:  scour eBay, local auction houses and second-hand furniture shops for an authentic vintage bath to transform.

Wow with your window coverings:

This is another cost-effective low-effort way to add a bit of colour into your bathroom.  Simply install a blind printed in a modern shade.   We can’t resist this pale green design by MissPrint for Blinds2Go.

And don’t forget those all-important finishing touches…

Carry on the colour scheme throughout the bathroom with handpicked accessories – think fluffy towels, plants candles and artwork in your chosen shades.  Pictured below, the Bagno Spa range via Excelsa.
