5 Tips To Transform Your Garden

Flowers in the garden

If you want to increase the wow factor of your garden without a major renovation then read on.

We have found 5 tips to transform your garden so you can make the most of your outdoor space.

Install a firepit

Nothing is as welcoming as a fire so why not add a firepit to your garden? There are many options to choose from including ultra-modern chimineas, fire bowls, and fire pit tables. They all allow you to enjoy your garden after the sun goes down and when the evenings get a bit chilly.

While many cities including London don’t allow woodburning firepits there are natural gas, propane and ethanol models that are permitted in these areas. Many people find them easier and cleaner to use. Whichever option you choose having a firepit means your garden can become an entertaining space all year round.

Add a deck

Having somewhere pleasant to sit is one of the joys of having outdoor space so consider adding a deck to transform your garden. If you are put off by decking costs then don’t despair it may not be as expensive as you think. And remember your garden is a huge selling point if you decide to put your home on the market in the future.

Whether you choose affordable softwood or are thinking long-term with composite there’s a type of decking to suit all budgets. The impact it will have on your enjoyment of the garden and the value of your property should not be overlooked.

Potting table upgrade

Most keen gardeners have a potting table or bench so why not make yours a feature rather than hiding it away? You can create an inexpensive bench by upcycling some old pallets freshened up with a coat of paint in a bright colour.

Include some hanging space above your workspace to display some fun items such as an old barometer, antique gardening tools or vintage-style lanterns. Add some attractive plants to showcase your potting skills and use quirky containers such as old colanders or floral crockery. Your potting area can be as fun or practical as you want but it certainly doesn’t have to be boring.

Create a garden kitchen

We all love eating outside when the weather allows so consider creating a mini outdoor kitchen to transform your garden. There are so many ways to do this from building a simple countertop to hold a mini pizza oven to repurposing old kitchen cabinets alongside your multiburner gas barbecue.

Depending on the space you have available you can also add a bar area or a purpose-built mini herb garden. Use your imagination and creative flair to create the perfect outdoor cooking space and be the envy of friends and neighbours.

Re-wild a part of your garden

One of the most popular ways to transform your garden is to rewild part of it. Rewilding is the process of changing an area from being cultivated and allowing it to return to a more natural state. This encourages biodiversity and can give wildlife in your area the natural habitats that they need to thrive.

Section off a portion of your garden and don’t mow the grass for a while, adding some more wildflowers if you like. Leave dead branches, logs and piles of leaves for hedgehogs, insects and fungi to use as homes and food. Even weeds are important for birds, bees and butterflies, all of which you will love welcoming into your garden.
