5 Stylish Ways To Transform Your Bathroom

Apart from the kitchen, the bathroom is the most difficult room in your home to renovate.  For that reason, it’s often long overdue for a makeover.  But when you finally take the plunge and tackle that bathroom project, you’ll need a bit of inspiration to get you started.

Here’s 5 stylish ways you could transform your bathroom space.

Super style your shower

Make your shower the envy of everyone by changing that little square cubicle into a stylish space.  Increase the floor space of your shower to create a roomy enclosure, install sleek glass panels and go for a low, unintrusive shower tray.

Add a touch of glamour with a contemporary, designer showerhead and rail kit.  Matt black and gold are modern favourites, but chrome is a timeless classic.

Take the tiling to a new level

Don’t settle for square white tiles in your bathroom.  Choose terrazzo or marble effect tiles for a luxury feel. Or go for a high gloss porcelain tile for instant impact.  When tiling a bathroom, think about using patterns to create added style.  Try a herringbone pattern, hexagon tiles or tiling vertically for a more stand-out look.

Tile the walls and floors to match if you’re looking for a seamless and clean-lined finish, or mix tiles and tiling patterns for an eclectic or unique look.

Break the mould with your sink unit

The sink is another part of your bathroom that doesn’t have to conform to a white square.  Decades after the avocado suite was banished to the skip, the idea of colourful sinks is making a comeback.  Pastel ceramic sinks in modern designs, paired with matt black taps are growing in popularity, but if this is a step too far, think about glass or stoneware for your sink instead.

Retro bicycle attached to bathroom wash basin/sink

Pedestal sinks are quickly being replaced by vanity units, loved for their variety and usefulness.  If you really want to stand out with your sink unit, repurposing a vintage or retro cupboard and upstyling it to a vanity unit is a quirky way to add style to your bathroom.

Make a statement with your radiator

Bathroom radiators are a great way to add a playful or chic element to your bathroom.  Vertical, geometric, and reproduction cast iron radiators are alternatives to the usual ladder-shaped towel rail.  Although white and silver are common colours for bathroom radiators, you can choose radiators in an array of colours, from dark grey to bright orange.  So, go with a colour that wows.

Take nature as your inspiration

Nature is a great resource for inspiration when it comes to bathroom design.  If this is something that interests you, then choose neutral tiles with a matt finish, such as a stone or wood effect. Pick plenty of natural materials and incorporate wood into your bathroom design.  Wooden shutters for the windows, wooden duck boards and wood panelling are some of the ways you could do this.

Finally, add moisture-loving plants to the bathroom and allow lots of natural light into the space.
