Art Deco For 2020: Get The Look In Your Home

Audenza

Art Deco originated in the 1920s, spreading across Europe and the United States well into the ’30s.

100 years later, it’s making a comeback. Largely, the design trend has stayed true to its origins — think sleek curves, sophisticated colours, mirrored surfaces, sumptuous fabrics, geometric patterns and glam metallics — but with a slight tweak to suit a 21st-century audience.

#6) Sweetpea & Willow Eichholtz Trapezium Chair, £1,124

In the Irish Independent newspaper, interior designer Siobhán Lam explains what she looks for in an “accent piece“:

“A good accent piece needs to stand out – be that through innovative shape, style, colour, process or pattern. […]  It also needs to perform its function well and make sense with your room’s general scheme. […] The idea is that the piece of furniture will work with the general scheme, but also has its own uniqueness which makes it stand out.”

We think the Sweetpea and Willow’s Eichholtz Trapezium Chair fits the bill. It is the perfect accent piece for an Art Deco-style space.  The glamorous shell back, sumptuous velvet fabric, deep turquoise colour and elegant brass legs make this chair stand out for all of the right reasons.  We’d place it in the lounge, master bedroom or hallway.

#7) Audenza Art Deco Style Pink Bottle, £49

This decorative glass bottle is the epitome of art deco with its sweeping curves and soft rose colour. It’ll add a touch of glamour to your sideboard, drinks trolley or dressing table.
